Wolves power forward eager to finally breakthrough .....
Kevin Love’s journey in the NBA so far has been filled with pain and losses.
The four year veteran has lost 230 games over the course of his career, but such is the talent of the man, that he is still ranked as the best power forward in the games today.
An incredible shooter – winner of the three point shooting challenge this February – Love is perhaps the best number four in the league when it comes to rebounding. Yet, even with all the individual talent, Love has not come close
to a team laurel, and that had mainly to do with the front office.
Minnesota Timberwolves has been the bottom feeders in the league ever since Kevin Garnett departed to the Boston Celtics, and after four seasons of frustration, Love finally issued a warning early this summer. The results were
immediate as David Kahn, the general manager, acquired Andre Kirilenko, Alexey Shved and Brandon Roy to add some steel to the roster that also boasts off Spanish point guard Ricky Rubio.
Now as the team prepares to enter the next season, Love seems content with the additions;
"It was tough going through all that losing. I think we made the right moves. I think we have a lot of veteran players that know how to play and our staff is just awesome."
The feeling of underachievement was aggravated when Love was part of the USA squad, which won the basketball event at the 2012 London Olympics. That team had perennial playoff players and the Wolves power forward rightly felt out
of place. Now that he has decent support, Love is eager to make the big break.
"I feel like I’m ready to break through," Love said in a recent interview with The Associated Press. "I feel like I have a sense of accomplishment in this league for what I’ve done, but the next step is the playoffs. The next step
is really looking at team goals."
Love and the Wolves do have a real chance of making it into the playoffs this season. In fact, they would have done that last time around, had it not been for a season ending injury to Rubio. They have an excellent coach in Rick
Adelman, and experienced players in Kirilenko and Roy. If Love can continue to be himself, there is no way this team can finish in the upper echelon of Western Conference this season.
