Kevin Mitchell claims he will smash John Murray to bits before going on to world title – Boxing News
Kevin ‘The Dagenham Destroyer’ Mitchell claims he will end the unbeaten run of the reigning European lightweight champion and former British champion, John Murray, in their upcoming domestic showdown, which is expected to be held at London in July.
The 26-year-old Mitchell, who has won 31 of his 32 fights including 23 by the way of a knockout, is targeting a world title and believes a win over Murray would get him a title shot.
Mitchell admitted, Murray, who has won all of his 31 fights including 18 by the way of a knockout, is a tough opponent but on the same note he told the media he has the tools to deal with him and is revving to do some damage. He added that Murray has somehow
been getting away at the domestic level but this time he would not be able to do so.
"I want to get back to the top and that's where I want to mix it," he said. "John is tough but there's nothing there to worry me. I'll knock him out. He's aggressive and has been getting away with it at domestic level, but let's see how he reacts when he
walks onto my shots. We'll get John Murray out the way, smash him to bits, and then win a world title."
In the end he commented on his only defeat which came against Michael Katsidis. He said he couldn’t concentrate because there were some problems going on with his family. He revealed the fight couldn’t go as he had planed it.
"The Katsidis fight didn't go according to plan, but things were going wrong long before the fight happened," he said."It was more due to my lifestyle and things that were happening in my life. My family life wasn't right.”
The boxer had fallen into a cycle of heavy drinking after the loss but has since recovered and is supposedly in top form again. All that is left to see is whether Kevin Mitchell can really see off the undefeated prospect of the lightweight division after
having been traumatized by his previous opponent.
