Kevin Na nominated for Shot of the Day in the third round of Crowne Plaza Invitational
Kevin Na earned the accolade of ‘Shot of the Day’ for producing a fabulous shot on the par-4, 18th hole in the third round of $6.2-million Crowne Plaza Invitational, which is taking place at the par-70 Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth,
Texas.
Na fired a tee shot that left him standing at 166 yards, which was not impressive at all. However, with a fairway metal in his hand, the veteran smashed the second shot, which plunged 236 yards of total yardage and landed 3 ½ feet away from the cup.
The player pumped his fist at the magnificent shot and walked towards the green to sink a birdie for a score of 5-under par 65.
Na teed off from the front in the morning and birdied three holes to set his game into momentum. The brilliant start filled the player with confidence, which eventually showed up on his scorecard later in the day. He reeled three more birdies against
a bogey and wrapped the day with a score of 65.
When asked to comment on his fantastic shot, the player said that he felt pleased at the accurate delivery, which landed on the right side of the green side bunker. He added that he was not satisfied with his driving, which was losing its balance.
The player finished the day with a 50 percent success rate, which meant that he missed nine of the eighteen fairways.
Parallel to the poor long game, the player delivered a fantastic short game that helped him to stay in contention for rest of the tournament. Na finished ninth in putting stats with an average of 1.571, which replicated the kind of short game he was
producing that day.
However, that was not the case in Valero Texas Open, which took place four weeks back in Texas. Na scored 16-over par on a par-4 14th due to poor long game and inaccurate short game. The huge number had his name written in the
book of worst shots of the decade.
Learning from the incident, the player competed in rest of the PGA tour events with great zest and after playing three rounds of Crowne Plaza Invitational, he is ready to step into the final round of Top 12.
