Kevin O’ Brien hopes to play more overseas Cricket in IPL and SPL- Cricket News Update
Ireland's explosive all-rounder, Kevin O’ Brien, hopes to sign more deals overseas in order to enhance his profile. He also expressed his desire to perform well for his national team in the upcoming World T20 tournament.
The player rose to fame after his blistering knock against the local and fierce rivals, England, in a World Cup 2011 group stage match. He scored 113 off just 63 balls, aided by 13 fours and six sixes, which guided his team to a historic triumph.
That innings led him to sign for the English County outfit, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gloucestershire-c785, where he also showed his power-hitting.
This all has led to an increase in the player’s fan base and profile, and with that the 27-year-old hopes to secure more sponsorships as well as overseas playing deals. He also wants to help his national team achieve success in the upcoming tournaments.
"Looking ahead, for me next year is a big year for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ireland-c751 in Twenty20 with the World Championship and I'm looking to play as much as I can in the next 12 months," he said.
Although the Sri Lankan Premier League was temporarily postponed to next year, it’s the IPL that most excites the Irish all-rounder.
"I'd signed a deal with the SPL and hopefully that will take place next year, but the big one is the IPL. I've registered for next year's tournament so hopefully someone will sign me up. I'd love to play in such a big tournament against the world's best
players.”
He is also working on a playing stint in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Twenty20 tournament, and working on a possible agreement.
The latest assignment for O’ Brien will be the tie against England, which takes place at Dublin, in a couple of day’s time.
However, many Irish fans and players were unimpressed after it was announced that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 are set to field a weakened team, resting most of players after their move to the top of Test Cricket.
The player is unfazed regarding the whole saga and believes that although it will be a young Poms team, all have the necessary experience of playing for their respective counties, so one would expect a close contest.
