Kevin Pietersen apologises for rude Twitter flare-up
Kevin Pietersen has apologised for the rude twitter flare-up that followed his exclusion from England’s ODI squad for the upcoming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755.
ECB’s squad announcement was accidently revealed by Kevin Pietersen on Tuesday afternoon when he posted a message on micro-blogging internet site Twitter which said, "Done for rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too. It’s a f**k up!!"
Though the post was removed immediately afterwards but it was inexorably picked up by quite a few of his 38,000 twitter followers which was spread across the internet. Pietersen, while talking to media reporters claimed that the way the twitter post had come out was not intentional. Twitter is a social media website where a person can directly send messages to friends or whosoever that follow him/her. The same happened with Pietersen’s twitter post and the cricketer later apologised for the message which ended up in public domain. Pietersen also apologised for the language he used in his post.
The 30-year-old Pietersen was not happy on his omission yet he insisted that the resentment was a spontaneous reaction. The right handed batsmen claimed that he fully understood the reasons behind the selector’s decision about his omission. Pietersen reiterated that the twitter message was a mistake and he does not hold anything against the England set-up or the selectors at all. Pietersen confessed that he was quite upset and frustrated with his own form.
Pietersen, who has been struggling off late for form since his clinical performance at the World T20 Championship in Caribbean earlier this year, compiled 140 runs in the four-match Test series against Pakistan with a top-score of 80 runs in the second Test at Edgbaston that involved no less than four dropped catches.
The 6 feet 5 inches tall Kevin Pietersen spoke to ECB officials including Coach Andy Flower, Managing Director http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hugh-Morris-c63550, Chairman of Selectors Geoff Miller as well as the T20 Captain Paul Collingwood in a bid to clear the matter. Pietersen revealed that all of them had completely understood the issue.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 Lions, Pietersen could only score 38 runs in front of an adoring crowd of 7,917 before being caught-and-bowled by 24-year-old left-arm spinner Shaaiq Choudhry.
Pietersen was picked by Surrey after his relationship with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789 soured to such an extent that the county refused to include him in their squad for the final day of the Friends Provident T20 tournament. Pietersen thanked Surrey for signing him for two 40-over matches as well as two Championship games. Pietersen said that Surrey was an amazing side and he could not thank them enough. He further added that Surrey is a great club with an illustrious history. Pietersen found some familiar faces as well in the club and said that the dressing room is full of promising players.
Talking about his previous county, Pietersen opined that one big reason behind leaving Hampshire was that he wanted to do all his training and rehabilitation in London.
