Kevin Pietersen axed from England - tweet reveals
A tweet posted on Kevin Pietersen’s twitter account (since removed) seems to have revealed the England batsman is out of the side for the remainder of England’s summer.
A post on the certified twitter account kevinpp24 today read: “Yep...Done for the rest of summer!! Man of the World Cup T20 and dropped from the T20 side too...It’s a f**k up!! http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 have signed me for I...” the tweet read, before the 140 character limit cut off the conclusion.
Today’s tweet follows reports in the Mail on Sunday earlier this month that England players were facing bans from posting on social networking sites including Facebook and Twitter.
The ECB is due to announce the England squad for September’s scheduled Twenty20 International and ODI matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 today, with the time for the announcement delayed from its original lunchtime slot to a current announcement time of 5.15pm, a three-hour-and-15-minute delay from the 2pm announcement time that had previously been scheduled.
The tweet from Pietersen’s Twitter account is the latest in a line of controversial and perhaps ill-advised player tweets from within the England camp, with England Under-19 player Azeem Rafiq during July venting his spleen at been dumped from the side for disciplinary reasons via a foul-mouthed tirade from his twitter account, and earning himself a one month ban for his efforts.
England paceman Tim Bresnan is another who has been censured for his use of the popular social networking site, after he lashed out at a doctored picture of him (making the bowler appear to be overweight) posted to Twitter early last autumn.
“Don’t mind my mates dishing it out but who the f*** are you. Crawl out of your basement. U ****,” Bresnan tweeted in response.
The tweet that appeared on Pietersen’s account today is not the first time a player has revealed their omission from the side through the medium either, with Australia opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Phillip-Hughes-c2185 announcing he’d been left out of the side for the Ashes Test at Edgbaston last summer.
“Disappointed not to be on the field with the lads today,” Hughes tweeted before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 playing XI had been officially announced. “Will be supporting the guys, it's a BIG test match 4 us. Thanks 4 all the support!”
