Kevin Pietersen comes out of ODI retirement, all set to play in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 ODIs – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 on Sunday made another shocking volte-face in his cricketing career, coming out of the One Day International retirement, and making himself available for selection for this month’s home ODI series against South Africa.
The 32-year-old top-order batsman today released a video interview in which he said he was committed to playing for his adopted country England, in all three formats of international cricket.
“I've had a change of heart because I love playing cricket for England,” said the Natal-born hard-hitting right-handed batsman in a video posted on Youtube.
"(I'll play in the) One Day Internationals against South Africa in a couple of weeks, the T20 World Cup, hopefully, if they select me for the squad," he added further.
Pietersen has been at loggerheads with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) since returning home without playing the full IPL earlier this year. In a bid to protest ECB’s hectic schedule he announced retirement from limited overs cricket in May.
Last week, KP hinted at turning his back on England completely, as he said in a press conference in Headingley that the Lord’s Test against South Africa could be his career’s last match. However, he said on Sunday that after discussing with his friends and family, he has decided to end his international career on a positive note.
“I've decided it would be a lot better to finish my career on a positive note rather than one that's being developed at the moment,” said KP, who scored a match-saving 149 against the Proteas at Leeds, last week.
Kevin Pietersen, the veteran of 88 Tests and 127 One Day Internationals, is also ready to respect his contractual obligations with the England and Wales Cricket Board, at the expense of a lucrative Indian Premier League deal.
“I would not be playing the full IPL,” said the Natal-born gangling top-order batsman, stating that he has already discussed the matter with his IPL franchise in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“I will come back and play the Test matches against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 next year so IPL is definitely not an elephant in the room anymore,” he added further.
