Kevin Pietersen disappointed of on not being able to cherish the Ashes victory: Cricket News
England’s star batsman Kevin Pietersen has shown disappointment on the fact that his team did not find enough time to celebrate the Ashes victory because of the tight schedule between the Ashes and ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
Andrew Strauss and company defeated Australia, 3-1, in the Ashes earlier this year and retained the prestigious urn. Pietersen feels that the English team would have received a memorable welcome on their arrival back home if the schedule was not that busy.
However, the middle order batsman is still happy that the nation is taking them as heroes for winning the Ashes, although the English team did not do that well in the World Cup in the sub-continent. Pietersen said that whenever he goes out, he gets positive
feedback from the fans rather than negative comments.
Pietersen said, “Even now, when you meet people in the streets, they still come up and say: ‘You boys are legends’ and it makes you feel 10ft tall. Every single builder, every single man in a van, every single garage attendant, or every person I bump into
when I take my son Dylan out for a walk, there has not been a negative comment.”
Former captain believes that everything went perfect during the Ashes 2010-11 and the only regret is that his team could not celebrate the victory that much because of the schedule ahead of the Ashes. However, he added that the English team enjoyed in Australia
as their families were present there.
“For the team, the only thing missing was to leave http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 on January 8, the day after we had won the series, and arriving home together at Heathrow with the urn so we could enjoy the homecoming together. We can’t go back and change the schedule now. And
it didn’t spoil our enjoyment of the moment because all our families were there to share it with us,” English batsman added.
England’s next assignment in international cricket is against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 are also set to visit the home of cricket later this year.
