Kevin Pietersen fails to secure the central contract – Cricket News Update
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has decided not to grant the controversial all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 a central contract for the 2012-13 season, casting further doubts on the player’s international career.
"Congratulations to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Onions-c1449 who is the one addition to the list of players who have been awarded increment contracts and is in recognition of the effort he has put in since his return from injury in 2011 and an indication that we feel he has plenty
to offer England in the coming months,” said the National selector http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Geoffrey-Miller-c58870.
“Contracts are ongoing recognition for those players who have regularly been selected for England and have performed consistently as well as players who we feel could play an important role for England over the next 12 months," added http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Miller-c76318.
Apart from Onions, Jonny Bairstow, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/C-Kieswetter-c1206 have also been awarded incremental contracts.
Meanwhile, the players with full contracts include: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576.
Reports have revealed that KP is currently in talks with the ECB regarding his possible comeback in the national team, however, the details of these talks are being kept secret.
KP has been out of favour with the members of the ECB after he made a controversial remark regarding his future as an http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 player, indicating differences with some teammates.
He then made matters worse by allegedly sending provocative texts to some South African players, criticising the then Test captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 and the England board.
Meanwhile, T20 skipper Stuart Broad, who would be leading his side into the first T20 game against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 today, believes that he has a strong unit and the side will do well without KP.
The lanky bowler in a recent interview, insisted that England had planned out the series against South Africa and the upcoming World T20 Championship beforehand.
England after losing the three-match Test series by 2-0 went down fighting in the five-match One Day International (ODI) series as the tournament ended in a draw with South Africa winning the series finale. The T20 will be England’s biggest test before they
depart for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 to defend their title.
