Kevin Pietersen is optimistic about his return for the only Twenty20 match – Cricket News Update
England’s hard-hitting star player, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806, has said that the all-rounder is optimistic about his return to the national roster, which is set to face the Indian hosts in the upcoming one-off Twenty20 (T20) match, scheduled to be staged at the Eden
Gardens in Kolkata, today, October 29, 2011.
For the matter, Pietersen has also been seen quite active in the nets, during his team’s practice sessions, despite suffering a thumb injury last weekend, as a result of which, the all-rounder was omitted from England’s final One Day International (ODI)
outing against the Men in Blue, where the tourists marked a complete whitewash at the hands of the hosts.
However for the upcoming assignment, Pietersen recently stated that his side is still confident, despite suffering a 5-0, complete knock out rout at the just-concluded ODI series.
The middle order batter also added that with his side, being the World Champions under the T20 format, they will surely put up an improved show at Eden Garden, in order to retain their summit.
“Everyone’s buzzing, looking forward to it,” Pietersen said. “The spirit in the camp is still very good – which is unusual for a team that’s lost 5-0”.
“We are T20 champions, the current ones playing the previous ones. It’s a battle for the best Twenty20 team in the world. We have a nice chance to draw a line under the 50-over series, and we’ll be looking to approach this match with a freshness. Let’s face
it...it can’t get any worse than it did the other night, so we might as well go out there and enjoy it,” he added.
Although Pietersen remains modest to his opinion, but for the Poms, the bout will surely come as a nail biting affair, since an unfortunate defeat would result in the side to slip down to the third place, from their current top spot.
On the other hand, the Indian youth oriented squad will surely come out with another imposing stint against the Poms, having already marked a worthy reprisal during the ODI leg of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, having suffered a comepete whitewash across all formats
of cricket during their last summer's visit to England.
