Pietersen had a highly successful campaign for the Daredevils, scoring 305 runs at an impressive average of 61, which included his maiden IPL century against his former club Deccan Chargers.

During the Commonwealth Bank series Down Under earlier in the year, Dhoni revealed that he might retire from the longer version in order to focus on the 2015 World Cup. His remarks did not go well with the Indian media, who criticised the player for showing
a lack of interest for the pinnacle format of the game.
Dhoni however, has added that his comments were simply “blown out of proportion” and retirement will hinge on his ability to manage his workload. "By the end of 2013, I have to see where my body stands, whether I can play the 2015 50 over World Cup. And
if I am not fit enough then I have to make way for the youngsters coming in," he said.
