Kevin Pietersen likely to retract his limited-overs retirement – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 for another three to four years in all three versions.
The 32-year-old had called it a day from the shorter formats in May, stating hectic schedules as the sole reasons. However, he had no plans of quitting Test cricket.
After witnessing the Poms defeating http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the recently concluded limited-overs series, the aggressive right-handed batsman has changed his mind.
Pietersen is now likely to play the upcoming http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in a couple of month’s time, where England will look to defend the title.
It must be noted that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 born cricketer only wanted to retire from the 50-overs format but the England and Wales Cricket Board’s (ECB’s) terms forced him to quit T20 cricket as well.
There have been unofficial reports in the British media since Monday that Pietersen’s manager has been in negotiations with ECB regarding the schedules. The lanky batsman confirmed the news and expressed that he still has the desire to play in all the formats,
if given appropriate break in between the international matches.
Pietersen maintains that he needs to spend time with his family and at this stage of his life he cannot keep playing every single day.
"I've always said I want to play in the T20," Pietersen said. "But I needed to get away from the schedule. I cannot keep playing every single day's cricket. I've never been looked after. There comes a time when I know what I need
to do to be successful. I've got a young family and I cannot be on the treadmill all day every day."
The legendary batsman wants the team management to handle him properly so that he can continue playing at least till the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
He added, "I've said before that, if the schedule was right, if they could sort my schedule out, I would love to play for another three or four years in all forms of cricket."
