Kevin Pietersen might retire from fifty-over format
Kevin Pietersen, the England super star, is thinking about retiring from One Day Internationals (ODIs)  after the upcoming 2011 ICC World Cup that kick starts on February 19.
However, Pietersen will continue to play Test matches and Twenty20 Internationals (T20is) for England. One of the English newspapers has claimed that the English player is keen to spend some time with his family.
Kevin has struggled for from in the last couple of months in the fifty-over version of the game, as his average has dipped down from around 50 to 41. During his struggle, he has only racked up one half-century.
In the last one year, the right-hander has amassed 338 runs at an average of 22. His tally of runs includes one fifty. Still he is England’s best batsman in the limited overs format, as he has got a prolific record.
Overall, in ODIs, he has collected 3517 runs, averaging 41 with a best of 116. Also he has mustered seven centuries. Nonetheless, in the recently concluded ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, Which, England lost 6-1, Kevin gathered some form, scoring 185 runs
at 31 with a best score of 78.
The 30 year old has criticised England’s feverish schedule leading into cricket’s flagship event, as he feels that their hectic itinerary has caused injuries to many key players.  
He said after England lost the series to their arch rivals, Australia, “Our schedule is ridiculous going into this World Cup. It has been for England teams for a very long time, and that's probably why England have not done well in World Cups".
Kevin remains a vital cog in the English line-up, as he boasts a wonderful record in the show piece event. He has made only one World Cup (2007) appearance for his team, and he was the only positive player in their campaign, smashing 444 runs at an average
of 55 runs with two centuries.
In the last four editions of the World Cup, the team from Europe hasn’t made it to the semi-finals.
However, this is going to be their best chance, as they house a complete all-round team, including a destructive willower in the shape of Kevin Pietersen.
