Kevin Pietersen not convinced about utility of three different captains for England
Former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 captain and middle order batsman, Kevin Pietersen, is still not convinced that the idea of three captains for three different formats of the game will work well for England.
England announced last week that Andrew Strauss will keep on leading the team in Test cricket, whereas Stuart Broad and Alastair Cook have been named as the captains for T20 cricket and One Day Internationals (ODI) respectively.
Pietersen believes that is going to be very difficult for all three of them to work as a team and all of them would have to put in a lot of hard work. Middle order batsman said that it is going to be very interesting to see how the idea of three captains
goes but he feels that only time will decide.
He said, “It's tough - really, really hard. There will be a lot of work the three are going to have to put in together, so it's going to be a h**l of a mission getting on and doing it all together. It's going to be fascinating to see how it pans out. No
one knows whether it's going to work now. We will have to see how it goes”.
Pietersen was one of the candidates to captain England in limited overs cricket but he claimed that he is not bothered about not being given a leadership role.
However, the right hander believes that he was ready to take the job. He went on to say that it is the first time in international cricket that a team will be led by three different men in different formats of the game and it will be interesting.
The South African born batsman also praised Andy Flower’s work as the coach of England in recent times.
“But not being given the captaincy didn't bother me at all. I was in a pretty good head space to think I could do the job but it's interesting that we've got three captains, the first time it's ever been done. They're young and it means fresh ideas. Andy
Flower has made some very good decisions in the last couple of years and let's hope this is a good one as well”, said Pietersen.
