Kevin Pietersen ready for the big task ahead
As the Boxing Day Test is closing in, Kevin Pietersen is feeling the heat to perform on the big day. In his opinion, he has been the brightest star in the English team whenever it came to pressure situations, but this time the stakes are way too high. He
believes that performing at any other place is one thing, and performing at the MCG in front of a jam packed stadium is different altogether. The series is evenly balanced at the moment, thanks to some brilliant display put in by the Aussies in the last test.
This has made Pietersen an all important player for the England side, as the next game is expected to rest on his shoulders if the visitors are to retain the urn.
Pietersen is also a bit nervous, given the evenly balanced series, but he has always preferred to be in the limelight. This was seen when he addressed the media today, explaining to them how it is a mix of emotions at the moment. “I have played a bit, and
I get Goosebumps thinking about it” he mentioned to the journalists. Obviously the excitement could be evaluated through his press conference. Pietersen also explained how when there is a jam packed crowd ready to judge you through the performance, it becomes
exciting and difficult to concentrate at the same time. Although he was sure that for him, excitement will overwhelm the difficulty and he will focus even more.
Although Kevin Pietersen has had a tough last test match at the WACA, where he scored 0 and 3 in the two innings, yet the confidence is high to outperform the opponents at the MCG. His start to the Ashes was bright with a career best 227 runs at Adelaide,
yet the performance was neutralized by a shaky display at the WACA. But the back bone of the English batting line up is adamant that he will revive his form in the upcoming test and will win it all for his side.
The news in by the media is that the track prepared at the MCG is a replica of the one at Perth. This means that an all seam attack is likely to feature for the Aussies. However, for England, Kevin Pietersen is ready to fire what ever the conditions may
be. He is certain that at the time when his team needs him to perform, he will rise to the task in a comprehensive manner.
