The prolific South Africa-born English batsman told the media reporters that Eden Gardens is one of his dream venues in the world.
"I have grown up as a kid wanting to play in Kolkata and missed out on a one-day game,” said Pietersen at the post-match press conference. “It was something that I was not really happy about... I begged the coach and said if I could stay and get onto the park tonight," he added further.
He said that after missing the fifth ODI against India with a broken thumb he did not want to lose the chance of playing the T20 and took some good pain killers to be in the starting line-up.

Everybody wants to play at the Lord's, Sydney Cricket Ground and the Newlands... This is one of them," he added further.
When asked was his thumb all ok after taking those painkillers, Pietersen promptly said, “A broken finger is a broken finger."
