KP has reportedly signed a deal to play in next years IPL.

Given that a) He has stated his future lies with England; and b) He has complained of tiredness because of too many matches, and too much time spent away from home, is this another case of money talking.

KP has always said that he is committed to playing for England, and has strenuosly denied claims that he qualified for England for financial reasons, stating instead that his decision to play for England was due to his disillusionment with the quota system in his native South Africa.

Is this another sign of KP looking after Number One first?

On the other hand, can players be blamed for chasing the riches on offer?

Should players loyalties be to their national boards, or to their bank balances?

  1. They should be loyal to their national boards, but the boards should also have their interests in mind. I think ECB should allow its players to participate in the IPL.

  2. That's a very strong possibility!

  3. 1. Tino Best -

"It's a little sad, but I can't go to the supermarket and say that my name is Tino Best, I bowl at 90 miles an hour, I want $400 in groceries," Best told Barbados daily the Nation. "People will ask me if I'm going mad. It is about securing myself and my family. It was a very tough [decision], but at the end of the day you have to live. I'm not a carpenter, a lawyer or a doctor. I'm a cricketer. I have to apply my trade to survive. It hurts me sometimes, but it is a decision I had to stick by. At the end of the day, I can't carry prestige to build a house or to feed my family."

    2. Shane Bond -

"Some people are always going to think you're a traitor, and I can live with that," he said. "There's a right way and a wrong way of going about improving your circumstances and I think I went about it the right way, so I don't understand why people would be calling me disloyal."

I think Tino summed it up quite well. No one's gonna feed your family just because you hit 6s for the country and/or take wickets. I COMPLETELY SUPPORT the fact that the players are preferring joining ICL & IPL to their undervalued national contracts. Ofcourse you can't expect ECB to give its players blank cheque's, can you?

  4. no england players shud not join and bcci shud not allow it too as they are havin their own county cricket.any ohther team does not interfere in their cricket so they shud also not participate in our cricket

  5. teams are allowed 8 foreign players on the so theres no need for english players to participate moreover a lot of people think IPL will lose steam next season

  6. Yaa, it is really great.
