Kevin Pietersen was not the right man to lead England, believes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 – Cricket News Update
England’s attacking off-spinner, Graeme Swann, has said that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AJ-Strauss-c964 took over at the right time.
In August 2008, Pietersen was appointed as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173 resigned as ODI captain.
During his short stint as captain, Pietersen led the side to one Test and four ODI victories. However, he had to quit after the breakdown in his working relationship with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-Moores-c81848, who was the then head-coach.
Swann is not an admirer of Pietersen’s leadership qualities, as he stated that it was a great move by the England Cricket Board (ECB) to axe Pietersen and hand over the reins to Strauss who later lifted the team to No. 1 position in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Thomas-George-Burrows-c93472he Test rankings.
In his new autobiography, The Breaks are off, Swann wrote, “There is no doubt that Kev is a good player, a really fine batsman, but he was never the right man to captain England in my opinion. Some people are better leaders of men and Kev, for all his abundant talent is not one of those natural leaders. I wouldn’t say he was a useless captain, but he wasn’t my sort of captain and we’ve ended up with the right man.”
The 32-year-old offie further lauded Strauss and termed the opening batsman as one of the best leaders ever.

Extremely impressed with Strauss captaincy skills, Swann shared that making the right decision at the right time and motivating his teammates are some of the qualities of the great man, who recently led the side to a 4-0 Test series victory over http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750.
“I’ve known him a long time but there is a line I won’t cross with him that I will cross with anyone else. It’s the sign of a good leader. I’m in awe of the way he speaks,” added the Northampton-born off-spinner who recently captained the Englishmen in a couple of Twenty20 Internationals against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760.
