Kevin Pietersen’s absence will boost Australia, believes http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SE-Marsh-c2470 – Cricket News Update
The out of favour Australian top-order batsman, Shaun Marsh, believes the absence of hard-hitting batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806 in the upcoming five-match One Day International series between England and Australia, will boost the mighty Aussies.
“http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 will be happy they are not facing Kevin Pietersen,” said the 28-year-old Western Australia-born cricketer, adding “it is a shame for the sport he is not playing.”
Kevin Pietersen, the South Africa-born England batting veteran last month retired from the limited-overs formats of international cricket with immediate effect, blaming the hectic international schedule for his early retirement.
Pietersen, who was the key contributor in England’s successful World T20 Championship campaign in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 two years ago, wanted to retire from the fifty overs format of the game, but was forced to quit T20 cricket as well, as a clause in ECB central
contract binds the players to play either both ODIs and T20s, or none.
“He is a world-class player and one of the best batsmen in the world as we speak,” lamented Marsh.
“He was fantastic in the Indian Premier League and it was a privilege to watch him bat. We have known for a long time how good he is and what he can do,” he added further.
He however, warned the tourists against complacency as the hosts still have an impressive batting line up, which includes the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/IJL-Trott-c1576.
“But England are still a very dangerous team with some fantastic batters that can take his spot,” warned the left-hander who has not played a One Day International for Australia since October last year.
The five-match One Day International series between traditional rivals, England and Australia gets underway at Lord’s on Friday, June 29, 2012.
A 5-0 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Iftikhar-Ali-Khan-Pataudi-Nawab-of-c64075 Cummins as the players to
watch out for in the series.
