http://www.senore.com/Cricket/KP-Pietersen-c1806’s recall a good move or a great mistake – Opinion
The recall of England’s controversial all-rounder, Kevin Pietersen, in the national fold for the tough tour of India has sparked a debate if it was a good move or the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made a rash decision based on emotions rather than
realities on ground.
After having a rollercoaster of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Summer-c41330, KP, sometimes dubbed as the most arrogant player in the current English contingent, has finally managed to make peace with the ECB, which opened his passage into the national team.
Having missed out on the recently concluded http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013’s number-one T20 player - needed to make amends for his wrongs in order to continue his international career.
Nonetheless, the big question now is whether he would be able to make friends with the players in the national team, as evidence suggests that there are certain individuals who have had a bitter relationship with the South African born, and were glad to
see his back when he was forced into exile during the summer series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.
Among these players is T20 captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SCJ-Broad-c2465, and while the lanky player has maintained that he has no issues with KP’s return, rumours suggest that he was the most vocal anti-KP voice in the team.
Before England’s disastrous bid to retain their ICC World Twenty20 title in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, Broad had argued that the English unit was equipped to handle any pressure in the absence of KP.
However, it proved otherwise, as England were to some extent manhandled in the mega event and lacked in everything.
Among them was the captaincy, as whenever England were in a tight spot during an ongoing match, Broad’s captaincy failed to inspire the players to go after a hard-earned victory.
While the absence of KP exposed England’s lack of depth on the middle, perhaps England’s Twenty20 debacle forced the ECB officials to seriously consider forgiving the flamboyant all-rounder.
However, KP is not all alone as players including Test captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 are delighted to have KP back in their ranks.
“I think it's been a difficult two months for us as an England side, but as captain the best possible outcome is that we have a world-class player back in the team. Kevin is very contrite and desperate to be back playing and scoring runs for England. As
captain that's all I want," said Cook while talking to Sky Sports News.
With the Test captain on his side, KP would probably have a good time in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, and if he manages to pull off a century of two, he is sure to turn a lot of heads.
Meanwhile, Finn who will be going against Indian batsmen knows just how important it would be to have KP to guide the youngsters on how to play in Indian conditions.
"It's excellent to have Kevin back, I'm glad that everything's been sorted out. It's great to have someone of his calibre in our team going into this tour to India.  He's going to be a great help for us over there. He's experienced a lot in Indian conditions
and, as he always does, he will transfer his knowledge to everyone else in the group," reckoned the pacer.
The series in India, beginning from November 15, will hold immense importance for KP as the player will have an opportunity to show the world just why England cannot be complete without him in the squad.
