The former Portsmouth star reveals that the challenge of winning Scudetto and UEFA Champions League forced him to retire from international football
A.C Milan midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Prince-Boateng-c20792, has revealed that he retired from international football to prolong his career with the Italian Champions.
Boateng recently called time on his international career with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 at the age of 24. The former Tottenham Hotspur star received criticism from all corners for his decision and got blamed for playing for money only.
The attacking-midfielder has urged his supporters and family to understand his situation as he had to take the decision with a heavy heart. The 24-year-old admitted that he was forced to take the decision due to constant injury
problems. The former Portsmouth midfielder admitted that he had to undergo six knee operations in a year and he wanted to prolong his career to win the Scudetto and UEFA Champions League with Milan.
While talking to the reporters, Boateng said,
“It isn’t an easy situation and my family didn’t really understand my decision, but I’d like it to be respected. In my life I have already had six knee operations and many injuries. I am challenging for top honours at Milan like
the Scudetto and Champions League, so did it to be at my best for the club. I did it to win with Milan.”
The German born midfielder joined the Italian Champions in 2010 and played a huge role in helping them to win the Scudetto in his debut season. Boateng is in rich of vein of form this season too and has scored six goals in only
12 appearances thus far.
The midfielder welcomed the possible arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez to Milan and believes that the Argentine will be a perfect player for the club. He added that the Manchester City striker is a quality striker who scores a lot of goals
and he can be an asset for Milan.
“I really like him as a player, he is so gritty and determined. He attacks the defender and scores plenty of goals. Plus he defends too, so Tevez is perfect for us.”
Milan will play their next game against Siena on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
