A.C Milan midfielder, Kevin-Prince Boateng, has announced his retirement from the international stage.
Boateng handed his resignation to the Ghanaian Football Association at the age of only 24 years. The Ghanaian FA has confirmed the attacking midfielder’s retirement and a statement revealed that the player has made his decision
because he cannot meet the physical demands of playing for club and country simultaneously.
The former Tottenham Hotspur star has missed a handful of matches in the 2011/12 season through injuries and he has consulted his family and friends for the decision. However, the FA is yet to take a position on the matter and
it is expected that the senior officials will conduct talks with midfielder to convince him to change his decision.
“The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ghana-c2905 Football Association has received a letter from player Kevin-Prince Boateng on his decision to resign from the senior national team. According to Kevin, the physical demands of playing for both club and country at high
levels are taking a toll on his health.”
“The player also explained that in order to remain healthy and stave off any injuries, he has consulted his doctors and family over the matter. He has decided to take the decision to excuse himself from national duties since he
is on a special training programme."
The 24-year-old has made only nine appearances for the international team and has scored a goal too. The former Portsmouth star started his international career with the German side at the youth levels but went onto represent Ghana
at the senior level. He played a huge role in helping his side to qualify for the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
The attacking midfielder has had a wonderful time since joining A.C Milan in 2010 and helped the Rossoneri to win the Scudetto after seven years. Boateng scored a hat-trick against Lecce recently and helped his side to win 4-3
after trailing by 3-0 at one time.
The German born midfielder has scored 8 goals in 41 appearances for the Italian Champions since joining the club in 2010. He wants to focus on his club career and has targeted a long stay at the San Siro.
