The Rossoneri midfielder has revealed the reasons behind a horrendous spell he had at White Hart Lane, and explains how he stepped out of the club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 in the summer of 2007. The Ghana-born midfielder spent two years at White Hart Lane, where he could never establish himself as a permanent fixture
in the starting line-up.
The attacking-midfielder managed to start only 14 times for the North Londoners before moving on-loan to Borussia Dortmund, then to Portsmouth.
Boateng became regular member in the Portsmouth team, putting in a lot of good performance for the south-coast side. His impressive performances could not avoid Pompey from getting relegated to the Championship. However, his displays
did not go unnoticed amongst the top European clubs, as Milan pounced on his signature before the 2010/11 season.
The 24-year-old has performed exceedingly well for the Rossoneri, and he feels that his miserable spell at White Hart Lane helped him in developing into a mature player.
While speaking to The Sun about his misery at Spurs, Boateng added:
"Tottenham didn't give me a chance and I didn't focus on work. But those problems helped me become a better player and man. I was on a downer because I wasn't playing and I was going out late to nightclubs and all that bulls**t."
Boateng mentioned an instance which made him realise what he needed to do and what the consequences would be of not following that realisation. He continued in his interview:
"I saw many talents who were http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shooting-Stars-c40509. A friend of mine was the biggest talent at Hertha Berlin. But one day I ordered pizza and he delivered it. I didn't want to see myself like that.”
He stated that it is very easy to lose focus during the early years of a player’s career, and it is extremely important to remain grounded. He believes his time at Tottenham made him stronger in that aspect.
Boateng has become an important member in the Diavolo side, having scored 11 goals in 51 appearances for them.
