Kevin Quinn conquers Men’s 200m butterfly heats: Day three – 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational
Kevin Quinn of Una WILD-IL conquered the preliminary rounds of Men’s 200m butterfly on day three of the 2012 Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational in Nebraska on Sunday, June 10.
The 20-year-old Quinn demonstrated his stupendous efforts in the first round of the distant butterfly event. With his laudable efforts, he faced no trouble in snaring the top qualification spot of the event and made his way to the final as top contender
for gold medal.
His impressive performance remained one and a half body length faster from his closest competitor as he emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 03.91 seconds.
He was chased by Marcus Guttmann of Wisconsin Aquatics, who was 1.60 seconds slower and made his way to the final round for second best qualification spot with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.51 seconds.
Guttmann was followed by Stephen Yemm of NASA Wildcat Aquatics, who stayed 0.22 seconds apart and earned his way into the playoff by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 05.73 seconds.
Fourth finest qualifying position was obtained by Ryan Kao of La Mirada Armada, who stayed only one stroke behind and surfaced on the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.99 seconds.
Kao was trailed by David Fraser of Highlands Ranch, who was 1.52 seconds apart and appeared on the finishing blockade as fifth finest swimmer by producing a time of 2 minutes and 07.51 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was secured by Christopher Nolan of Tule Nation Trit, who stayed 0.39 seconds behind and posted a time of 2 minutes and 07.90 seconds.
Subsequently, Nolan was followed by his teammate, Wesley Coles, who suffered a deficit of almost one second and settled as seventh best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 08.83 seconds.
The 18-year-old Coles remained 0.37 seconds ahead of Benjamin Bravence of Kansas City Blaze, who entered the final as eighth best swimmer with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.20 seconds.
Furthermore, these finalists will face each other in the playoff of the 200m event in the next session of the championship.
