Kevin Sinfield of Leeds wants a fresh strategy for Carnegie Challenge Cup final
Kevin Sinfield of Leeds believes that a new strategy to play the final showdown of the Carnegie Challenge Cup 2011 against the Wigan Warriors, in Wembley, on Saturday, August 27 needs to be incorporated into Leeds' gameplan.
According to Leeds’ skipper, something different from their last year game plan needs to be taken up by the franchise in order to make it a winning experience unlike last year.
Last year’s game plan was to dash for their long-awaited dream which back fired with a 6-30 defeat against the Warrington Wolves.
This year there is a change of priority by the franchise, who was hungry for the Cup last year. Their current season was not a smooth ride for them, as it was loaded with the consistent display of form.
However, last year, the Wembley dream of Jamie Peacock was terminated in lieu of the season ending defeat which kept him out of the final showdown of Challenge Cup.
The injured knee ligament was not considered by Peacock that severe until detailed examination reports revealed the actual scenario.
Sinfield who has experienced the final Challenge Cup defeat thrice wants to work on every single bit to bag his win this year. Rhinos were deprived of this Challenge Cup victory since 1998.
While speaking about the difference in priorities in two years, Sinfield stated, "Because our performance was that scratchy in the league, I suppose it was always a welcome distraction. We never thought 'let's really focus on the cup this year'. We did that
last year and we came up short. We've had a completely different approach. Now it's time to focus on Saturday's game."
Michael Maguire who coaches Warriors has full confidence over his franchise as he believes that  Leeds should not be undermined  as they all acknowledge their true potential.
Maguire added that "There is a lot of quality across the park but it is all about what we do in the 80 minutes and our players have learned that week in, week out.”
It was further added by him that during the 80 minutes that the players are well aware of their true potential and will do whatever they can.
