Kevin Sinfield reckons that England is all set to give Australia a tough time - Rugby
Expressing his joy about his side’s 28-6 win against last year’s world champions, New Zealand, over the weekend, England skipper, Kevin Sinfield, acknowledged that his side’s mounting delight over their confirmation as finalists of the next Saturday’s final
showdown of Four Nations. However, it will not deviate them from their primary focus.
Sinfield stated, "We're pleased but we won't get carried away. We were disappointed with some aspects last week and it's great that Steve kept a similar side and we were able to put some of thoseright. The fact that we were patient and happy to grind sets
out paid dividends in the second half."
England played exceptionally well during the sudden-death encounter against the Kiwis. They had established an early lead during the initial half of the game, finishing at 8-0, which was punctuated with a try by Tom Briscoe from English quarters. Meanwhile,
Kiwis did not offer any resistance at all, which is apparent from the score break-up at the half-time. However, the situation changed during the latter half of the game, as the black caps sprang back to life with the addition of try scored by Nightingale.
This was of no help to the New Zealand, as they had also geared up. The second-half of the game featured Ryan Hall, James Graham and Sam Tomkins in full-swing, as all of them ran in a try each for the English side, which further widened the score-gap.
England rower, Gareth Ellis, had failed to recover from his back injury, to be part of weekend game, but this is did not coat at all the English side, who still smoothened their way to the finals.
About his side’s performance, Sinfield admitted that it was a great team effort and his side is spear-heading in the right right direction. He further added that they performed well so that they could battle against Australia much strongly. English skipper
said, "After last week, we all want another crack at the Aussies. We had to keep our focus for this one but we're delighted to get another opportunity."
If they continue ahead with the same attitude, their next game may spell Four Nations title for them.
