Kevin Sproul promises to help Lance Adams’ new Soto 40 team at Audi MedCup
Lance Adams from South East of England is now planning to launch a new Soto 40 series team with a fresh crew at the upcoming 2012 Audi MedCup Circuit. He has already ordered for the boat which will be delivered at the end of this year. The fresh crew will
be skippered by New Zealand’s Piers Tyler and on the other hand, Ngoni tactician, Kevin Sproul has promised to help the new English Soto 40 team.
Tyler is a young Kiwi graduate of the New Zealand Youth programme and has already raced in the Caribbean and Europe as a skipper at the age of 18, since he left New Zealand. The youngster is ready to lead the new English Soto 40 team and hopes to perform
better in the event next year.
While speaking to the media, Tyler said, “My dad pushed me off the beach at the age of four off Narrow Neck, Auckland and I have been sailing ever since. I sailed from New Zealand through the New Zealand Youth Scheme moving to Europe at 18, 23. I skippered
in the Caribbean at 21 and done a lot of offshore racing and inshore.”
He added, “But the core crew is English and all come from a dinghy background, but we race all around the English Channel to Ireland and Northern France. I am impressed and looking forward to the challenge. I think the crew is ready for it but we will learn
a lot of lessons at the first event!”
