Kevin Stadler fades in Puerto Rico Open finale
After displaying a tremendous performance in the first three rounds at the Puerto Rico Open, Kevin Stadler failed to score well in the final round on Sunday.
The 32-year-old American professional golf player started the tournament amazingly. He scored four birdies in the first round and finished 3-under 69.
In the second round on Friday, he added -3 to his scores, with the help of five birdies and two bogeys.
He improved his ranking by displaying an improved game in the third round on Saturday. He was tremendous throughout the day and carded a bogey-free round.
Similarly, he carded six impressive birdies and added -6 to the leaderboard scores.
Stadler had reached the runner-up position and shared the position with Henrik Stenson on Saturday. Both were one stroke behind the leader George McNeill at the end of the day.
"I putted very well," Stadler said. "It was great today. For the most part this year, I've putted a lot better than I have in the past four or five, six years. I felt really comfortable on these greens".
"I've played well here in the past where I've hit the ball just phenomenally well every day and struggled with the putter, and it's funny to be up near the top this week with the complete opposite," he added.
He was confident to lead the scores on the leaderboard and did well till Saturday.  He was heading towards his first PGA Tour win as well.
However, unfortunately he lost his scoring perfection and failed to impress the spectators in the final round on Sunday.
He displayed average performance in the fourth round and was unable to compete well against the other field members.
He could not make it to the leading position and bogeyed on the very first hole unimpressively. Then he also carded four more bogeys from hole-7 to 13.
His under-par scores made a dent into his leaderboard position, as he finished tied for the seventh position with Daniel Summerhays at the end of the day. His final scores were 11-under par and 277 strokes in total.
George McNeill is the proud winner of the tournament and Stadler finished five strokes behind him. Now again, Stadler has to wait for the next tournament to record his first victory.
