sealed the 2-0 win in favour of Netherlands.
Strootman, who provided the assist on the second goal, was delighted with the win, and revealed that it was a much-needed victory for the Oranje.
“This is a very important victory. We knew that Turkey are one of the better teams in our group, and winning against them at home was necessary for us”, the PSV midfielder was quoted as saying to Voetbal Central.
The Dutchman, who has thus far played 12 matches while wearing the Oranje colours, went on to admit that his side staged a below par performance in the opening 45 minutes, but played impressively after the break.
"In the first-half, we played a bit sloppy. However, things changes in the second-half, and we performed brilliantly”, Strootman added.
The Oranje will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hungary-c2920 in their next 2014 World Cup qualifier match at Ferenc Puskas Stadium on September 11, and the Dutch international knows that it will be a stern test for his side.
“An away game is always difficult. However, we will try our level best to achieve a good result”, Strootman concluded.
