Kevin Van Hoovels wins the final stage of the Trans Zollernalb, Christoph Sauser bagged an overall victory
Kevin Van Hoovels of Team Versluys wins the final stage of the Trans Zollernalb after his tremendous performance during the 76 kilometre chase to Hechingen.
He took a total time of 2 hours, 28 minutes and 1 second to occupy the top podium position with Jochen Kab of Team Multivan Merida Biking falling seven second short for the second position.
Alban Lakata of Team Topeak-Ergon Racing secured the third spot with stage 2 overall leader, Christoph Sauser finishing 40 seconds behind at the fourth position.
Hoovels was delighted after winning the final stage of the race and noted that he was sensing a win after his close finishes in the earlier stages of the event.
"I knew the finish from my victory two years ago. I am happy to finish the competition like this. The first two days were not so good for me, but now I looking forward to the Worlds," he cited.
Jochen Kab was disappointed after losing the race "I worked more in the front and didn't expect his attack. But that's the sport,” he briefed.
Second stage winner, Christoph Saucer had enough lead to claim the top overall position after the final general classifications with Alban Lakata falling two seconds short from a glorious victory for his team.
Moritz Milatz of Team BMC-Racing grabbed the third podium position with Markus Kaufmann and Kevin Van Hoovels finishing fourth and fifth overall after the final classifications of the Trans Zollernalb 2012.
"My job was to keep his wheel and I could, I am really happy to win against the superior strength of the teams. Moritz Milatz and me, we were the only ones without teammates," Sauser noted after winning the race.
On the other hand, Sabine Spitz wins the final stage of the race after a close encounter with Esther Sub.
"I didn't think that the climb to the finish line was so long. When we reached the cobblestones, I went very hard," Spitz noted.
Sub was a little disappointed on losing the stage victory as it also cost her the overall classifications with a mere difference of 1 second.
Sabine Spitz took the overall victory with a total time of 8 hours, 16 minutes and 38 seconds with Borghild Loevset of Team Orkla CK securing the third podium spot after the Elite Women overall classifications.
