Kevin Youkilis looking for another strong season in 2012 – MLB News
Kevin Youkilis is one of the most dynamic hitters in the Major League Baseball right now. Since making his MLB debut, the striker has produced match winning performances. Being a very down to earth person, he is always for room for improvement in his game
play. In an interview with a leading sport website, the striker stated that he does not play baseball for Money but his motivation has always been his love for the game.
Youk posted another fine season in 2011 as he was named to the 2011 American League All Star team. With 26 doubles and incredible .399 on base percentage and 63 RBI’s, he looked on top of his game play.
His OPS of .911 was also quite outstanding and it helped the Red Sox achieve significant results during the past season. In addition to his hitting abilities, Youk brings great value to the table as a fielder. Showing his incredible defensive skills, he
led all third baseman in American league with .967 fielding percentage.
“I already hit the jackpot in monetary terms. I live a different kind of lifestyle. I’m not flashy like that. Money is not why I play this game. My job is to help us win games. I know if I’m out there starting every day and we win a World Series, there’s
a good chance I might come back. That’s my whole goal. I know if we win a World Series, it’s going to be hard for them not to bring me back. I want to make it as hard on them as possible not to bring me back,” said Youk.
Being an old fashioned player, he does not pay too much attention to his contract’s value. While his $41 million contract extension could expire after this season, he seems to focusing on practicing right now. The Red Sox’s General Manager Ben Cherington
admires his skills and he holds a $13 million option for Youk in 2013.
The upcoming season will be of great importance for the right handed striker. If he can maintain his astonishing form in 2012, he will have a great chance to earn another huge pay day at the end of the post season.
