Key LPGA stars confirmed for CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012
Key top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars have reportedly confirmed their participation for the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, scheduled to be held from August 20-26, at The Vancouver Golf Club.
Speaking to the media about the looming battle, CN and Golf Canada said the players who have confirmed their participation for the event include American Lexi Thompson, Paula Creamer, Na Yeon Choi of South Korea and Natalie Gulbis.
The prestigious tournament is expected to stage a tough battle, as after the confirmation from top-ranked LPGA stars, the media attention is being focused on how the competition will attract the local crowd.
Analysts said that although players have several days until the CN Canadian Women’s Open 2012, the hype of the tournament has already gripped the fans.
Analysts said that the main attraction at the tournament will definitely be Na Yeon Choi, who won her first major title at the US Women’s Open 2012.
Choi’s confirmation for the tournament has triggered other players’ interest, as it is expected that star players will dominate the leaderboard. Another tough contender is Paula Creamer, who boasts a stunning profile, and has grabbed several LPGA victories.
Sharing his thoughts about the confirmation of big names for the much-hyped event, Sean Van Kesteren, Tournament Director of the CN Canadian Women’s Open said that he and officials are happy that prominent players are going to grace the tournament — something that is very important for gaining media attention  and attracting bigger crowd.
“We are pleased to welcome Na Yeon Choi, Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson and Natalie Gulbis to the field,”   said Kesteren.
“Our field is coming together over the next few weeks and should once again feature the world’s best players competing for Canada’s National Women’s Open Golf Championship”.
Kesteren expressed his confidence in the management and its efforts for luring topflight LPGA contenders.
“Add to that the opportunity for British Columbia golf fans to enjoy world class golf and family activities onsite while helping to support the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation through the CN Miracle Match program and there’s great reason for the community to get excited about the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open,” he said.
