Key Largo (?) at christmas

Question

I have lots of questions!

Is it warm enough to go to the beach / swim at xmas and new year?

Flights may be cheaper to Orlando - would this be too far too drive if we stopped over at orlando for a couple of days? Are there other airport options (coming from UK)?

Key Largo looks cheaper than the other keys - is it as nice?

We have 3 children 8, 11, 13 - is there enough to entertain them at keys?

Any advice on location, dates, flights, things to do, accommodation, car hire etc most welcome!

My friend went down to Florida last year and she had a great time and was able to go the beaches. Have fun!
