Keyboard Typing Several Characters

Question

I have a Toshiba R100 laptop that has suddenly started typing several characters whenn a single key is depressed. The PC was OK when switched off but developed the problem at power on.

I've plugged a USB keyboard in which works perfectly. I think it may be a virus and have done a complete sweep of the disk using Norton and found nothing.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
