That R sound is a problem for another day,it's the little bit above it.. what's it called in Czech and is there a way to make it on a standard English keyboard.

(I copied and pasted for the title)

Do they only go over consonants?

Also the á é í ó ú, I know they're made using the alt gr, but what are they called? We have them in Irish (Gaelic) as well, we call them "Fada" (s) which literally means "long" because generally they lengthen a letter.

  1. the á é í ó ú are prcise the same meaning .. to lengthen a letter.

    the symbol above the consonants /and above e, occasionaly/ ...dont know proper english term lets literally translate its name as >hook< smoothes the consonant ..it is like adding >h< into phonetic transcription in english

    -> Å¡ means sound [sh]

    ž means [zh]

    the other consonants would be transcripted differently

    č [cz] or [ch] as in checque

    ř is [rzh] -famous and specific consonant of the Czech language

    the hook over e makes sound of [ye]
