I have been looking around the internet and could not find any articles on keyhole racing for horses. I'm interested in starting and was looking for some pointers and rules and regulations. Any websites or personal info. from users would be appreciated!

  1. Ok...Its a western timed event.  You run down into a little... keyhole time thing made out of cones usually.  You have to run down and turn your horse inside the keyhole without stepping a hair outta of bounds and race back as fast as you can

  2. If you mean like the gymkhana event in which the horse runs up the ring, through four polls placed in a square, turns around and runs back through then I can help lol.

Its not to hard. I would just practice full speed run and sharp turn around. And make sure your horse isn't afraid of small areas made by tall polls.

I would get some cones and practice getting your horse through them, making the area smaller and smaller until its a box that is just about horse length on all sides.

Just sit deep in the saddle, some horses stop dead when they see the polls so get ready to give a load GET UP and kick.

Really use your outside leg to get that horse to turn around and get back through.

Good Luck and feel free to email me with any specific questions.
