The 32 year old Celtics reserve guard puts a full stop to rumours linking him with the defending NBA champions Miami Heat.
After recently signing a contract extension with the Boston Celtics, reserve guard Keyon Dooling decided to hang up his boots last week citing family reasons. The Celtics eventually waived him off and ever since that there had
been rumours that the point guard will head to the South Beach.
However, in a recent email to Fox Sports Florida, Dooling opted to put an end to the rumours by clearly stating that he will not be playing NBA basketball anymore.
“No truth!” Dooling wrote. “I will never play NBA ball again.”
Kenge Stevenson, Dooling’s agent had announced last week that his client would not be playing in the league anymore;
"Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it's time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family," the statement read. "He will never forget his time with the Boston Celtics."
In his time, Dooling was part of six different NBA franchises and had only made his way to the Boston Celtics last season. Even though he averaged only 4 points per game but was a key addition to the Boston offence whether playing
a backup role or starting in place of Avery Bradley, who had injury troubles especially during the playoffs.
Dooling held a career average of 7 points and 2.2 assists per game in a career, which saw him play mostly off the bench. The 32 year old guard only started 86 games in 12 years. The playing time was bound to decrease further with
the arrival of Courtney Lee and Jason Terry to the Celtics ranks during the summer.
Dooling has also given up his position as the vice president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), the player’s body which was at odds with the league and owners last summer, which resulted in lockout.
