Keypad combination on a fire safe?

Question

My husband is a control freak and took my licence/credit cards, etc. I just found a safe (a small fire safe) with a keypad on it. I tried several combinations and it's obviously 4 digits. Does anyone know how to figure out what 4 numbers are used, then I can figure out the rest. I've tried every combination I could think of. I was thinking of leaving a film or something on the keypad and then after he uses it I can see what 4 numbers were touched? But I can't think of anything that'll work. THank you.

Yank the safe and take it to a lock smith  or forget the husband and go get a new license.

Your licence you need. Your credit cards, you don`t .

Sure a film will work, then there are various sequences that need to be explored. Even if you narrow it down to 4 numbers, it will take you a very long time to figure it out. What has prompted him to do this? You must have done something really bad...

Next time he's sleeping, take his wallet and hide it.  When he wakes up, inform him that you'll give it back to him when he gives you back your stuff.

For what reason did he take these away from you? Control freak or not, there had to be a reason why he took these two items away from you.
