Keyword research...where? How?

Now that overture has turned off the Keyword Research Tool where does one now go for recursive keyword research? (as one could do with the tool).

Are there third-party solutions that will give you the words and cost estimates for Yahoo, MSN, and Google?

  1. I certainly doubt it.

  2. i wasn't even aware of overture but that sounds like a really useful tool.  wonder why they stopped it?

I know it's a little bass-ackwards but in Google I use the Campaign manager tools under campaign settings you have the ability to plug in different values (bids per thousand impressions or bids per clickthrough depending on type of ad chosen) for keywords and it gives you estimated traffic, or have Google suggest a value based on a cumulative set of keywords.  But, alas, you have to sign up for Google Adwords and possibly Google Analytics, but it doesn't cost much until you actually start running ads of course.

As far as Yahoo and MSN, you're on your own there as I haven't messed around with ads through either one yet.  Overture is sounding really good to me right now though!

UPDATE:  you piqued my interest with overture (didn't realize it was a yahoo tool) and I went searching for it and found inventory.overture.com which is fully functional and gives info as to how many people searched for a particular keyword.  Don't know if it's the same thing you referred to? Hope it helps.
