Khabib Nurmagomedov to make debut at UFC on FX 1 against Kamal Shalorus – MMA News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will get another mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter in its list with the inclusion of a Russian. The 23-year old Russian, Khabib Nurmagomedov, will be making his UFC debut in February. The
event in which Nurmagomedov will make his first appearance for UFC will be UFC Fight Night 26. It is also known as UFC on FX 1 where FX stands for Fox Extended.
The MMA event will take place on January 20, 2012 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Bridgestone Arena. Nurmagomedov, who has been undefeated in his MMA career with sixteen straight wins specializes in Sambo, Pankration, Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu and Freestyle Wrestling. He would be facing Iranian MMA fighter Kamal Shalorus.
Nurmagomedov and Shalorus’ lightweight bout between will be one to watch for both fighters bring with them a diverse fighting style. Shalorus, who is basically an Iranian-British MMA fighters has his strengths in boxing, freestyle
wrestling and catch wrestling. If the Russian MMA fighter is impressive with his winning streak, then Shalorus can also prove himself as a worthy opponent.
The Iranian, nicknamed, The Prince of Persia, was undefeated in his seven fights in which two ended as a draw. In his tenth fight against American MMA fighter Jim Miller, the Iranian, suffered his first ever defeat by the hands
of American MMA fighter Jim Miller at UFC 128 in March 2011. He lost the match through a technical knockout (TKO), which makes him vulnerable against Nurmagomedov. Shalorus would have to stay focused ahead of the game to make sure he ends Nurmagomedov’s winning
streak, but the momentum, which the Russian has maintained over the years will give him a boost as he enters the UFC octagon ring for the first time.
News and rumours combined about the bout between Nurmagomedov and Shalorus were circulating in the MMA community for many days. There were speculations that this fight may happen but no confirm statements were coming in from the
UFC management nor the two fighters or their camp. It was only after UFC President Dana White made an official statement which made the it certain that Nurmagomedov and Shalorus will surely face each other in January 2012. White said that, "Undefeated Russian
fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov has verbally agreed to make his UFC debut against powerful wrestler Kamal 'Prince of Persia' Shalorus Jan. 20 in Nashville."
