Khan vs. Molina: Briton fractures both hands – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan fractured both his hands during his twelve round bout against American unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina past Saturday in Los Angeles. Khan, who believes his performance was at par, is his agony yet wants
to go ahead to face his nemesis Danny Garcia.
“Ouch @AmirKingKhan Both hands fractured! Molina was one tough cookie,” tweeted Saj Mohamed, a member of team Khan.
Khan defeated Molina via tenth round TKO. Even though his fans around the world hailed him for the victory, analysts believe it was an easy hunt for the Briton. Molina had several disadvantages against Khan, including his short height and reach, his lack
of experience, speed and his punching power. Khan made it a mark to punish Molina, alongside exhibiting his newly learned boxing tricks from trainer Virgil Hunter.
“I thought I stuck to my game plan and was keeping faith in my jab,” said Khan who joined hands with last year’s trainer of the year Virgil Hunter earlier this year following his defeat at the hands of Danny Garcia.
“Virgil’s teaching me things, like speed, patience, picking the right shots and when to throw them. Sometimes I’m too brave for my own good.”
Khan is looking forward to a rematch against Danny Garcia, in order to get his lost pride back. The Bolton proud was on his way to become the next big thing in the world of boxing just when Danny Garcia pulled him down and put him in his place.
It was a sight when Khan was knocked out brutally by Garcia, several times, until the referee stopped the fight in the fourth round.
Khan knew he needs to do something about his falling career and so he chose Molina, a fighter who has no weapons that Khan cannot take. He is not a power-puncher, he is small and he is not speedy enough to match Khan. In other words, all the advantages lied
with Khan, and that showed when the Brit was dominating Molina completely.
Now, Khan wants Garcia to prove that he is the better fighter even though he knows he can be knocked out again.
