Khan wants to make a comeback in December, hopefully against Danny Garcia – Boxing News
Bolton proud Amir Khan is still trying to recover from Garcia’s massive hook that knocked him out in the third round. Khan, who thought he would win the fight, lost control in the third round and fell prey to Garcia’s blows.
“I've not had time to be upset. I was thinking on the plane on the way home it would have been great to win all those titles and bring them home. Everyone was rooting for me to do that, but it just wasn't my time,” said Khan when asked if he is upset over
the defeat.
The fight was held on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Khan won the first two rounds and was seemingly in good shape just when a left hook from Garcia took him down in the third round. The sight was as appalling for spectators as
for Khan, as he did not see the punch coming.
Later on, the British-Pakistani fighter did accept that he only has himself to blame, as it was his own blunder that gave Garcia the chance to strike him down.
Now, Khan is looking forward to settle scores with Garcia, probably in December.
“We're working on a rematch. I can't believe people are talking about retiring which is crazy as I'm only 25. Some people don't turn professional until they're 25,” said Khan when asked about his plans.
“Hopefully in December we can get that rematch and I can bring the belts home to Britain.”
There are several issues that Khan is thinking over. He has even indicated towards a possible change of trainers if the need be. Khan believes he is not being given enough attention by his trainer Freddie Roach, which is stopping him from training well for
top class opponents like Danny Garcia.
Khan lost the opportunity to unify the WBA, WBC and Ring Magazine titles, but Danny Garcia grabbed it. Now, the Briton is mourning over his loss and is trying to make sure it does not happen again. Khan wants a rematch in December, and he is hopeful he will
get it.
