Khandaq expected to win Donna Mortimer Ballantyne Charitable Trust Handicap
Khandaq has got a solid chance of prevailing in the Donna Mortimer Ballantyne Charitable Trust Handicap at Hamilton in England on Thursday, June 28, 2012. A cash prize of £3,409 has been set for the winner of the class-5 event.
The going will be soft in the 1 mile 65 yard race, which is scheduled to start at 21:50 GMT. The distance will definitely test the stamina of all the runners, but this will give an opportunity to Khandaq to bring up his fourth victory in the sport.
The five-year-old gelding has been around since 2010 and his performances have been a touch inconsistent during this time period. He has participated in 20 events, winning three of them and finished runner up once. In addition to that, he has secured the
third spot on a couple of times.
Gulch’s son out of Jadarah will like the conditions at Hamilton, thus his fans will be expecting him to take the top spot comfortably. He brought up his previous victory at Wolverhampton in January this year. He displayed very good stamina that time around
and prevailed by almost a couple of lengths.
However, the Keith Dalgleish’s trainee was unable to continue the winning momentum, as he struggled in his next few outings. Things did not look good for him at all, but his trainer kept on working hard on his form and fitness.
The hard work finally paid off, as Khandaq found some rhythm in his most recent outing. He was given the best odds back then, but could only manage the runner up position. He got held up at the start of the race, but came back strongly in the end. Despite
that, he was unable to cause any problems for the winner.
Khandaq will be partnered by seasoned jockey, Tom Eaves, who has got an impressive record in the sport. He has been performing decently in recent times as well, but is not known to be a consistent performer.
On the other hand, the bookies have shown more faith in the abilities of Peter Anders, who is carrying a very good momentum right now. He has participated in seven events, winning just once.
