Khedira keen on Real Madrid move and Zlatan Ibrahimovic not for sale
Germany made an impact on world football in the World Cup in South Africa by playing some attractive football. Joachim Loew had a young team at his disposal and before the tournament no one really gave them a chance. Germany though made it to the semi final of the tournament and ended 3rd after beating Uruguay. A number of young players made an impression and Sami Khedira was one of the exceptional performers.
The German midfielder is currently playing in Germany for Stuttgart, and says he would love to join the Spanish giants Real Madrid. He said that he wants to work with a manager like Jose Mourinho and to work with him at a team like Real Madrid is a match made in heaven.
Jose Mourinho is also believed to be interested in attaining the services of the midfielder, Jose is said to have great admiration for the 23 year old after a number of sterling performances in South Africa. With Khedira also interested in the move it is likely that the switch may actually take place.
While talking to a newspaper Khedira said that he is seriously considering a move to Real Madrid, he added that he knows that the Spanish club has also shown interest. He said that Real Madrid has always attracted him, and he thinks that Jose Mourinho is tactically the most astute manager in the world and he will take Madrid to new heights. Khedira said that he will love to be part of the team that Mourinho builds.
He said that the style of football Mourinho implies in his teams is tactically brilliant, the defence is so compact and team focuses on counter attack. The 23 year old midfielder went on to say, that is precisely what the German team did in the world cup, so he too will not have too many problems blending in.
Meanwhile there is more news coming out of Spain; there was buzz in the media regarding a big swap deal between Real Madrid and Barcelona. It was believed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic would be heading to Bernabeau and Brazilian midfielder Kaka would be making the journey to Catalonia. Barcelona however has confirmed that they have no plans of selling Ibrahimovic to Real Madrid, not individually or even in a swap deal.
There were several reports in the Spanish press suggesting that Mourinho is keen on reuniting with his former pupil from Inter Milan, it was believed that Mourinho was ready to pay a hefty amount for his man. However, Barcelona has categorically denied any deal in prospect.
Ibrahimovic has had an unproductive season at Barcelona since arriving after a swap deal plus cash that saw Eto’o making his way to Inter Milan and the Swedish striker coming to Barcelona. Nonetheless Barcelona have said that he is not going anywhere for now, although he may be up for sale but not to Real Madrid.
A Barcelona spokesman said that there has been no contact with Real Madrid over a swap deal. He said that he has no knowledge of such talks because the club did not have any such intentions. He said that these are all rumours built up by the media.
The spokesman further added that Ibrahimovic still is under contract with Barcelona, and even though he did not have the best first season. Zlatan is a proven striker and he still wants to prove his worth at Camp Nou. He went on to say that the signing of David Villa by no means undermines the presence of Ibrahimovic at the club and there will be plenty of time for all the strikers at the club to get their turn throughout the season.
