Khoirun Nikmah overpowers Nurfitriani in Women’s Singles second round at Jakarta Open 2012
Indonesia’s emerging player Khoirun Nikmah showed her elite skills in Women’s Singles second round when she overpowered Nurfitriani at the Djarum Sirnas Flypower Jakarta Open 2012 in Jakarta, on Thursday, May 17.
Nikmah, who is seeded at number 13 in the Women’s Singles draw of the championship, employed her maximum potential and managed to win the battle in three games with a decent margin.
The higher ranked Nikmah worked hard for 40 minutes in the court and remained successful in winning the battle in rubber games.
On the other hand, Nurfitriani showed up her elevated class and troubled her higher ranked rival throughout the contest but failed to live up to expectations in the ending points and lost the match with a respectable score.
In the first set, both shuttlers played with precision and remained toe-to-toe while remaining focused in the court.
Nikmah tried her best to take advantage but failed to get a reasonable lead until the mid-game interval in opening set.
After the break, both ladies continued playing in the similar fashion as they remained neck-to-neck until the ending points when Nikmah committed a few mistakes and lost the set with a 19-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Nikmah showed her brilliance in the as she played aggressive badminton and also remained in impressive control of rallies.
Until the break, Nikmah was going far ahead of her lower ranked team-mate.
After the interval, Nikmah continued her power play in the game as she did not show any mercy to her opponent and managed to win the set with a tremendous 21-7 score on the board.
In the final set, Nurfitriani changed her game plan and again put up good show and remained close to her rival until the mid-game break.
After the interval, Nikmah played well and took a reasonable lead while remaining positive. She maintained an upper hand in the game and remained successful in taking the final set with a superb margin of 21-17.
Nikmah managed to win the battle in hard-fought rubber games in 40 minutes with a terrific 19-21, 21-7 and 21-17 score on the board.
