Khosit Phetpradab makes way into second round of 2012 Malaysia International Youth Championships
Thailand’s Khosit Phetpradab had a perfect start of the Maybank Malaysia International Youth U19 Badminton Championships as he surpassed Sathiestharan R in his opening match on September 11, 2012.
However, it was not an easy win as he had to put all in his possession to read a favourable result of 17-21, 21-16 and 21-11 after an exhausting exercise of 48 minutes.
He came back from behind and stunned the native shuttler who was a bit relaxed after claiming victory in the opening game.
Sathiestharan R, who was in strong position to finish this encounter in just two games, disappointed his supporters by kneeling down in the local badminton arena of Kuala Lumpur.
In first set of the match, he trailed behind his rival in most part of the game but amazed everyone with a fine show of skills in the second half.
The Malaysian campaigner looked a bit confused against the top seeded shuttler as he was unable to read his challenger’s strategy and stayed down until the mid-game break.
After the mid-game break, Sathiestharan started making progress at a steady pace.
He clinched a few consecutive points and caught his competitor at 16-16. He did not lose this touch and kept the bird under his control until the decisive margin of 21-17.
Interestingly, this blow worked in favour of the Thai shuttler as he switched on his best and levelled the match score.
Khosit Phetpradab showed elevated craft and swept the table with a five-point lead in the final figure.
This time he did not waste time and launched a brisk attack to push his opponent on the back-foot. He confounded Sathiestharan with power packed smashes and well placed drop net shots.
The opposing shuttler could not move swiftly across the court and surrendered after reading 16-21.
Khosit Phetpradab continued with his top form in the decider and locked the honour in a splendid manner.
He established an unassailable lead with a respectable figure of 11-5 and then blew away his rival with an impressive knock of 21-11.
Now the Thai shuttler will be taking on Kwan Ting Sean Lee in the second round and a win will ensure his presence in the pre quarter-finals of this International Championships.
