Khulna Division v Rajshahi Division - National Cricket League – Final – Day 3 - Rajshahi Division won by 9 wickets – Live Score and Update
Khulna Division 212/172 v Rajshahi Division 258 -129/1 - Rajshahi Division won by 9 wickets
Saturday: Rajshahi Division won the National Cricket League on April 28, after beating Khulna Division by nine wickets on the third day of the five-day match, at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur.
With this win, Rajshahi are now the alpha team in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747’s domestic circuit as they were certainly a better side in the finale after having a decent domestic season overall.
The day started with Khulna resuming their second innings from 135 runs for the loss of five wickets, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taposh-Ghosh-c92755 on five.
The side knew that they needed to bat the whole day in order to post a stiff total on the board to give Rajshahi a tough time in the remainder of the match.
However, the fielding side made early inroads as with only 139 runs on the board they grabbed the wicket of Ghosh, who departed after adding just two runs to his overnight tally.
This was the time when the batting side needed to keep its cool and handle the situation professionally, but this was not the case as with 146 runs on the board, they suffered the loss of their second wicket of the day when middle-order batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Razzak-c41688, fell after scoring just three runs.
23-year-old, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolar-Mahmud-c54291, then made his presence felt in the middle as he provided Haque excellent support by crafting a resistance against the fielding side.
While Haque toyed with the bowlers and kept the scoreboard ticking by facing maximum deliveries, the two batsmen managed to steer the side to a tally of 171 before Mahmud became the next casualty of the day, as he fell after adding 10 runs to the team tally.
Later with Haque unbeaten on 58 runs, the side faltered after scoring 172, giving Rajshahi a target of 127 runs to win.
With almost two and a half days of play remaining, this target was not intimidating by any means, and an act of God was required to save Khulna from an eventual defeat.
With odds favouring Rajshahi, Khulna never stood a chance and could only grab one wicket, before Rajshahi conveniently reached the required target in 22 overs with opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Farhad-Hossain-c56786 on a tally of 32.
Hossain, who took three wickets in each innings and scored 109 runs in the fixture was named as the Player of the Match.
