Khun John to swing back in form for the Kemptonlive.Co.UK Apprentice Handicap
Kempton will become home for the Class 6 Kemptonlive.Co.UK Apprentice Handicap over a mile and four furlongs on Wednesday, 6th June. Competing for the £1,617 prize money is a line-up of twelve four-year and older runners.
The strongest candidate for the race today is Khun John, Marju’s nine-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Kathy Caerleon. He has already raced six times during the new season and has won only once while racing at Kempton.
He burst into a new season with a dreadful failure in the Lingfieldpark.Co.UK Handicap on 14th January at Lingfield over a mile and two furlongs. He ended eighth on the line-up of twelve while the race was won by Kiss A Prince who set the 7/2
favourite of the race, Trip Switch, at a loss.
The nine-year-old remained unsuccessful in the next two races and then finally posted a win through the fourth outing of the season.
He won the “Bet Late At Cheltenham” Handicap on 14th March at Kempton over a mile and four furlongs. Riding with Jamie Mackay, the pair led the 9/4 favourite runner up, Laser Blazer, by a length.
Coming at terms with the third position was Bengal Tiger.
He has racing experience at Kempton even prior to this season. His chances of winning the race today are quite substantial.
He will need to look out for Cantor, Iceman’s four-year-old Choir Mistress, who celebrated success at Kempton in February. Out of the seven races that he was a part of, Cantor won one and that too at Kempton.
He won the Bet With Williamhill.Com On Your Mobile Handicap on 11th February over a mile and three furlongs. He was the 4/5 favourite winner paired up with Richard Hughes for the race. The two led runner up of the race, Missionaire, by just half
a length.
Concluding the race third behind the winner was Herschel.
Both will have to counter competition in order to get the race credited in their profiles. Khun John has maintained a certain consistency and thus is a more reliable entry for the race. His last two races after the win were third positions.
