Ki Jung Kim and Sa Rang Kim storm into Men’s Doubles quarter-final at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012
Korea’s experienced shuttlers Ki Jung Kim and Sa Rang Kim continued playing with terrific precision and secured their berth in Men’s Doubles quarter-final at the Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Korea, on Thursday, December 6.
In the round-of-16 contest, the lofty Koreans showed a strong performance and overpowered Malaysia’s Mohd Razif Abdul Latif and Jagdish Singh in a dominating fashion in just 27 minutes.
The higher ranked Ki Jung and Sa Rang, who are the top seeds in Men’s Doubles main draw of the event, played with superb precision and managed to overpower their Malaysian challengers in straight games with a staggering margin on the board.
Meanwhile, Mohd Razif and Jagdish failed to maintain their positive run in the tournament as they could not put up strong resistance against the Koreans and lost the match without creating a strong impact in the arena.
In the first game, the lofty Ki Jung and Sa Rang showed a phenomenal performance by playing attacking badminton and they easily occupied the driving seat.
The tempo of the rallies was fast and Ki Jung and Sa Rang did not let their rivals to dominate the pace of rallies at any stage and they remained successful in setting up a superb lead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the Malaysian players failed to respond in a positive way as they conceded many points by executing negative shots and consequently remained struggling.
In contrast, the in-form Ki Jung and Sa Rang continued their positive run by employing their attacking skills and took the first set with a crushing 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, the lower ranked Mohd Razif and Jagdish tried to play better badminton but they failed to create pressure on their local challengers and eventually remained miles behind until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the incredible Ki Jung and Sa Rang stayed focused in their positive and dominating play and they easily ended up the second game with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
The top seeded Ki Jung and Sa Rang easily defeated their Malaysian rivals in pre-quarter-final battle with a strong margin of 21-10 and 21-13.
