Kia Classic: Jennifer Johnson excited to play at hometown
Jennifer Johnson is happy to play the Kia Classic in her hometown, as she has said she will try to set foot on the course with confidence.
Johnson said that she is getting ready to participate in the Kia Classic that is about to take place from March 22nd to 25th at the famous La Costa Resort and Spa.
The event is lining up a formidable field, featuring key players on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association).
Unlike other players in the roster, Johnson will be in a far better position, as the venue of the Kia Classic is not new to her.
Having grown up around the South Course, she has seen her career rise from a rookie to a professional star.
Another advantage the 20-year-old Johnson can enjoy while playing at the La Costa Resort and Spa is that she has played on the course almost all her life.
Experts have said that Johnson can capitalise on the course knowledge she has acquired by living here.
In order to keep herself fully fit for the big event, Johnson has been making visits to the practice range in her hometown, working hard where there is room for improvement.
Johnson is practising hard to regain her form after a host of challenges that she faced in her career.
Speaking to the media just days before the Kia Classic, Johnson said she is high spirits these days and this is a golden opportunity to please her fans.
The 20-year-old said that she grew up watching big players and these players were usually from the PGA (Professional Golf Association) Tour.
She said that when one grows up seeing and playing golf among leading players, gaining confidence becomes easier.
Due to her attachment to the sport, she has been given an honour to become a permanent member and she often trains on the practice range while she is at home.
Johnson said that she knows that the Kia Classic field is more competitive than ever before, but she knows that her fans are expecting so much from her.
She said that she will capitalise on her hometown and home crowd advantage.
“I have expectations for myself because I know the course so well,” Johnson said. “I think it’s an advantage. Knowing the course is not a bad thing”.
